Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has said midfielder David Beckham could recover from his ankle injury in time for the second leg of the team’s Champions League quarter-final next week.

Beckham was stretchered off the field following a late tackle by Diego Tristan in the first leg last night.

The influential midfielder had his ankle bandaged and was walking with a limp today, but Ferguson said the injury might not be that bad.

"We will know more later, but he could be back for next week," he said.
