Eircom League: Derry hand Rovers title setback

Derry City have prevented Shamrock Rovers from leap-frogging to top spot in the Eircom Premier Division.

The Candystripes thumped Damien Richardson's Hoops 3-0 with the opener coming from Liam Coyle five minutes before the interval.

Eamonn Doherty and Gareth McGlynn made certain of the points with second half strikes.

Shelbourne remain on top by two points.

There are two games in the top flight tonight. St Patrick's Athletic meet Bray Wanderers at Richmond Park, while champions Bohemians face relegation-haunted Monaghan United at Dalymount Park. Both matches get underway at 7.45pm.
