Premiership: Djorkaeff completes Bolton transfer

Bolton have completed the signing of French World Cup winner Youri Djorkaeff.

The attacking midfielder has joined the Premiership strugglers until the end of the season.

The deal was completed after Djorkaeff was released from his contract with Bundesliga side Kaiserslautern.

The 33-year-old said: "I decided to sign for Bolton because the club really want me.

"Sam Allardyce visited me in Germany, he told me he relied on me, and told me I would be in the first-team.

"I want to score goals and I've never felt as fit. I am really eager to discover this new challenge, help Bolton stay in the Premier League and regain my place in the international set-up for the World Cup."

Djorkaeff has been capped 78 times and was part of the French side which won Euro 2000.

He has also played for Paris St Germain and Inter Milan.

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce believes the capture of such an experienced player will be a boost for everyone at the club as they bid to avoid relegation.

"Signing a player of Youri's calibre and class underlines our determination to stay in the Premiership," said Allardyce.

"He is an outstanding world-class player and a World Cup winner, and perhaps the biggest signing in the club's history.

"From the club's point of view, it shows our great determination through long and protracted negotiations in getting our man."
