Premiership: Dixon delighted with clean sheet

Arsenal defender Lee Dixon, who won the Barclaycard man of the match award, said his team’s 1-0 win was important for their hopes of keeping pace with Premiership leaders Manchester united.

Arsenal defender Lee Dixon, who won the Barclaycard man of the match award, said his team’s 1-0 win was important for their hopes of keeping pace with Premiership leaders Manchester united.

But the former England defender admitted the scoreline might lead to opposing fans bringing back their taunt of ‘Boring Arsenal’.

‘‘We kept a clean sheet which was the main thing,’’ Dixon told Sky Sports.

‘‘We used to nick results 1-0 so maybe they will start singing that song again,’’ added Dixon.

Dixon stressed Arsenal had gone into the game not worrying about United who won 2-0 at Charlton earlier in the day. We can’t concentrate on anybody else,’’ he said.

‘‘We’ve just got to play and get three points.’’

The victory maintained Arsenal’s unbeaten away league record this season.

‘‘Last year we couldn’t buy a win away from home and this year we’ve been superb on our travels,’’ admitted Dixon.
