Alex Ferguson says he won’t let Manchester United persuade him to change his mind again and stay on when his new contract runs out in 2005.

The 60-year-old was previously expected to retire at the end of this year, but changed his mind and will sign a three-year deal tomorrow.

The Scot says he is pleased to be staying but once the new contract is up ‘that will be it’. He insists he will not take up any other role of the club.

Ferguson broke the news of his change of heart to players on Tuesday. He says ‘they just clapped, every one of them. It was very embarassing’.
