Premiership: Trophy recognition for United

Manchester United will be presented with the FA Premier League trophy before today’s home game against Sunderland to mark their achievement in winning the Premiership title three seasons in succession.

Manchester United will be presented with the FA Premier League trophy before today’s home game against Sunderland to mark their achievement in winning the Premiership title three seasons in succession.

Dave Richards, chairman of the FA Premier League, will present United chairman Martin Edwards and boss Sir Alex Ferguson with the trophy to keep as a permanent recognition of the team’s success.

Richards said: ‘‘We are proud of their record and wish the team well for what is shaping up to be one of the most gripping title races in years.’’
