Premiership: Chelsea reject Petit departure rumours

Chelsea have dismissed reports that midfielder Emmanuel Petit is set to leave Stamford Bridge for Liverpool.

The French international has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Chelsea team, leading to speculation of a possible departure to Anfield.

However, Chelsea managing director Colin Hutchinson said the story is "absolute nonsense".

Chelsea bought Petit for £7.5m (€12.2m) last summer after he served an unsuccessful season with Spanish giants Barcelona.
