An own goal from Stephen Higgins broke Junior side's St. Kevin's resistance and their hearts as Derry scraped through to the FAI Cup quarter-finals from this third round replay at the Brandywell.

Higgins deflected a miss-hit shot from Gareth McGlynn past his own keeper, Austin Hannon, on 54 minutes.

Derry, as expected, dominated but couldn't find a way through themselves with Padraig Moran missing a sitter on 32 minutes.

Derry are now away to UCD in the quarter-finals on February 10.
