Premiership: Woodgate guilty of affray, Bowyer cleared

A court in Britain has found Leeds United footballer Jonathan Woodgate guilty of affray in connection with an attack on an Asian student in Leeds in January of last year.

A court in Britain has found Leeds United footballer Jonathan Woodgate guilty of affray in connection with an attack on an Asian student in Leeds in January of last year.

However, Woodgate was cleared of causing grievous bodily harm to the 21-year-old student at Hull Crown Court.

His team-mate, Lee Bowyer, was found not guilty of the same two charges, but his friend, Paul Clifford, was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm and affray.

Another friend, Neale Caveney , was found guilty of affray, but cleared of causing GBH.

All four defendants had denied the charges.
