Soccer: McCarthy named Sports Manager of the Year

Ireland manager Mick McCarthy was last night named Phillips Sports Manager of the Year after leading Ireland to the World Cup finals in Japan and South Korea next year.

McCarthy held off competition from the likes of Aidan O’Brien, Warren Gatland, John O’Mahony and Nicky English.
