Premiership: No way out for Veron

Manchester United insist record £28.1m signing Juan Veron does not have an opt-out clause in his contract.

Manchester United insist record £28.1m signing Juan Veron does not have an opt-out clause in his contract.

Veron has been part of the United side which has produced a series of poor results this term, and was ineffective during Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Arsenal.

While most Old Trafford fans admit the Argentine has shown signs of his undoubted ability since his summer move from Lazio, many wonder whether his arrival has caused United to alter their playing style, resulting in a devastating loss of form.

It has also been reported that Veron has a clause which would enable him to quit Old Trafford in the summer with Barcelona being touted as a possible destination.

However, United claim Veron does not have any such option.

United’s director of communications Paddy Harverson said: "There is no get-out clause."
