Everton’s Norwegian goalkeeper Thomas Myhre is expected to sign for Turkish side Besiktas within the next 24 hours.

Everton’s Norwegian goalkeeper Thomas Myhre is expected to sign for Turkish side Besiktas within the next 24 hours.

Myhre, currently out of favour at Goodison Park, has agreed personal terms with the Istanbul club and has only to pass a medical before the £375,000 deal is concluded.

He joined Everton from Viking Stavanger in November 1997 but broke his leg twice and has been unable to displace regular number one Paul Gerrard since.

Everton coach Walter Smith told his club’s website www.evertonfc.com:

"Thomas indicated to us that he would prefer to move on should an opportunity arise, and now that he has that opportunity, we would wish all the very best in his future career.’’
