Champions League: Jamie was captain marvellous -Thompson

Liverpool caretaker manager Phil Thompson praised a captain’s performance from Jamie Carragher and a match-winning display from young full-back Stephen Wright after his side had advanced in the Champions League.

The Anfield club moved into the last 16 of the competition for the first time, and now await Friday’s draw knowing they cannot face Manchester United, Arsenal or Group B runners-up Boavista in the next stage.
