Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has confirmed to Mick McCarthy that Roy Keane will need three weeks rest for his injured knee to recover.

If this is correct it will mean that that Keane will miss both legs of the World Cup Qualifier against Iran or the United Arab Emirates.

Meanwhile in the Eircom League Cup Cork City have beaten Cobh Ramblers 2-0 with goals from Noel Hartigan and Ollie Cahill.
