Premiership: Westerveld rejects Alaves switch

Liverpool goalkeeper Sander Westerveld has rejected a move to Spanish side Alaves.

The Spaniards had hoped to sign the Dutchman on loan until September.

However, he turned down the move because he wants a more permanent position.

Westerveld lost his first-choice status at Liverpool after manager Gerard Houllier signed Jerzy Dudek and Chris Kirkland in the same day earlier this month.
