World Cup Qualifier: 'A very proud moment' - McCarthy
Ireland manager Mick McCarthy paid tribute to the only goalscorer of the game - Jason McAteer, after his goal grabbed Ireland all three points.
McCarthy said: "McAteer was magnificent, and he can't even get a game for his club - he epitomises the work and spirit in the squad".
Mick McCarthy also paid tribute to captain Roy Keane, who was voted man of the match.
He said Keane was simply 'magnificent' and that this was 'a very proud moment' for the team and their manager.
Speaking about the October meeting with Cyprus McCarthy said: "I'm going to be boring, pragmatic but professional now…let's beat them."
