SPL: Advocaat accepts pressure as part of the job

Dick Advocaat insists the pressure on him after recent Rangers draws against Livingston and Fenerbahce is simply part of the job.

Dick Advocaat insists the pressure on him after recent Rangers draws against Livingston and Fenerbahce is simply part of the job.

The Dutchman guided his side to an impressive 4-1 win at Dunfermline to wipe away some of the disappointment of the last two games.

Russell Latapy, Tore Andre Flo and a double from Bert Konterman sank the Pars.

"The pressure is always on at teams like Rangers and Celtic but it is not a problem at all," said Advocaat.

"After the performance last Wednesday (against Fenerbahce) we played excellent football today.

"We didn't give a chance away and we created enough chances to score more than four but I'm very pleased with the way we worked and played.

"I was very pleased with Stephen Hughes - you can see what a quality player he will become.

"We know from experience how difficult it is at Dunfermline but we handled that well with the new back three."

Konterman was awarded man of the match after the game but Advocaat insisted that the team also deserved credit.

"He (Konterman) has coped very well. If you score two goals in an away game, it is excellent but he also played well.

"But I have to give credit to the whole team."

Meanwhile, Konterman admitted that the team had felt some pressure after the draws against Livingston and Fenerbahce.

But the Dutch international insisted that the win at Dunfermline showed the team's maturity.

"I expected some pressure because it is now going to be a very difficult game at Fenerbahce and of course there was the draw against Livingston," Konterman told Sky Sports.

"The crowd and ourselves expect something. I think we were mature enough to do it here but you have to show it every week and fortunately we did it here."
