Soccer: Hughes agrees personal terms with Coventry
Lee Hughes has agreed personal terms with Coventry over a Stg£5,000,001 move from West Brom.
The Sky Blues expect the striker to sign for them later today.
The former Kidderminster Harriers hitman passed a Highfield Road medical on Tuesday night. Now the transfer is expected to be complete in time for Hughes to make his debut in the season opener at Stockport County on Saturday.
The bizarre fee - just Stg£1 over the Stg£5milion mark - is reportedly due to a clause in Hughes' contract that states any club must bid over Stg£5m to open negotiations with the 25-year-old.
Manager Gordon Strachan is also expected to announce the capture of Republic of Ireland winger Keith O'Neill from Middlesbrough.
Coventry secretary Graham Hover told the club's official website: "As far as Coventry City are concerned the fee is agreed and hopefully Lee will sign for us today.
"He passed a medical on Tuesday evening and has agreed personal terms and we hope to have him and Keith O'Neill on board for Saturday's trip to Stockport."
