Soccer: United to open Veron talks - report

Manchester United are set to open talks with Lazio midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron, according to reports.

Newspaper reports today suggest a £20m bid for the Argentian has been accepted by the Italians.

Veron is rumoured to be unsettled in Serie A and apparently favours a move to Old Trafford.

The player's adviser Gustavo Mascardi said: "We have a problem with Lazio over Veron's future.

"So this week we will fly to Manchester for a meeting with United."

However, Veron is reported to earn £60,000-a-week tax-free in Italy, which may put United's board off.
