Bundesliga club Stuttgart have set their sights on Chelsea’s £5m-rated Finnish striker Mikael Forssell.

Forssell, who scored both goals for his country in their 2-2 World Cup qualifying draw with Germany on Saturday, has been targeted by Stuttgart general manager Rolf Russmann.

Russmann said: "I have justified hopes that he will agree to the transfer.

"He has potential and would fit in well with our other players.

"Besides, he speaks German as he was born in Burgsteinfurt in Munsterland."

Forssell, 20, spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace where he proved a success in a struggling team, but is back at Stamford Bridge now and expected to be a regular member of Claudio Ranieri’s first-team squad.
