Soccer: Ireland-Scotland to bid for Euro 2008
A bid has been launched to bring Euro 2008 to Ireland.
The FAI want to co-host the tournament with their counterparts in Scotland.
The Scots launched their bid last night via Scottish First Minister Henry McLeish and SFA chief David Taylor.
If the bid is successful, a large proportion of the 31 tournament matches would be played in Dublin, with the proposed National Stadium the cornerstone of the Irish bid.
FAI president, Pat Quigley, has said that Ireland would be looking for three or four games including some first round matches and possibly a semi-final.
He said although the final would probably go to Scotland, Ireland would have an 80,000 seater stadium and could make a good bid.
