Soccer: Amoruso - I’ll quit Rangers
Rangers defender Lorenzo Amoruso has admitted he will quit Ibrox in the summer.
The Italian’s future has been in some doubt since being stripped of the captaincy earlier in the season as Barry Ferguson was handed the role.
Amoruso still has one year remaining on his current contract, but he feels that he has been pushed out by manager Dick Advocaat.
But he insists that he now wants to quit the fallen champions which looks set to spark a transfer chase with Sunderland and West Ham leading the pack.
Amoruso said: ‘‘I still have another year on my contract, but I won’t be back to Glasgow next season.
‘‘The club have already made it clear they are ready to let me leave and I want to go. It’s just a matter of what kind of deal can be set up in the summer.
‘‘Next weekend’s game against Hibs will be my last. Some fans will be happy to see me go and they are entitled to that opinion, but many others have asked me to stay. But it is not on. The manager does not want to keep me.’’
