Soccer: Able Elber rocks Real

Giovane Elber struck early in the second half to give FC Bayern München a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid CF in their UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium last night.

The Brazilian's weak shot bobbled past Iker Casillas after 55 minutes.

Steve McManaman came close twice and Iván Helguera headed over as Real fought back.

But Bayern, resolute in defence and menacing on the break, held on to take a priceless lead to Munich next week.
