Soccer: Blackburn deny United bid for Kelly

Blackburn insist they have not received an approach from Manchester United to take Irish international goalkeeper Alan Kelly on loan.

United have problems ahead of their Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich with both Fabien Barthez and Raimond van der Gouw injured and have been given permission by UEFA to sign a keeper on loan.

"We have had no approach whatsoever from United and it is far from certain we would let anyone go, even if there was one," said Rovers chief executive John Williams.

Rovers boss Graeme Souness has previously stated he is prepared to let either Kelly or John Filan go, but with both Filan and Alan Miller injured, Kelly is currently the only cover for first-choice Brad Friedel.
