Robbie Fowler has called on Liverpool fans not to barrack David Beckham and his Manchester United team-mates in the World Cup qualifier against Finland.

Robbie Fowler has called on Liverpool fans not to barrack David Beckham and his Manchester United team-mates in the World Cup qualifier against Finland.

There were fears that the rivalry between United and Liverpool could lead to Old Trafford players being booed by sections of the crowd.

But Fowler is anxious to play down that possibility.

He said: "Beckham is the England captain and I hope they don't start giving him and the other United lads any stick. I am sure it won't happen.

"As much as we are rivals in club football we all have to stick together in this."
