Soccer: Irwin in threat to leave United

Irish international Denis Irwin has warned Manchester United that he is ready to leave the club if they continue to stall on a new contract for him.

The 35-year-old's current deal runs out at the end of the season and he has been looking for an extension offer from United.

He said, "It wouldn't be easy leaving United but it doesn't frighten me. I know it can be strange leaving one club and going to another with new players, but if it is something I have to do, then I will do it."
