Soccer: Roma replay plea rejected by Uefa
Liverpool's passage into the quarter finals of the Uefa Cup was confirmed when a plea by Roma to have the match replayed was rejected.
The Italians lodged an official protest with Uefa claiming Spanish referee Jose Garcia-Aranda denied them a penalty in their 1-0 second leg win, which they lost 2-1 on aggregate.
The official pointed to the spot after the ball hit Liverpool defender Markus Babbel on the elbow, only to change his mind and award a corner instead.
