Scottish Cup: Rangers advance to quarter-finals

Full-time: Ross County 2, Rangers 3

A goal from captain Barry Ferguson sent Rangers into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup after Ross County had threatened to wreck their season altogether.

Two goals from Alex Bone cancelled out a Tore Andre Flo opening double before Ferguson struck to spare Dick Advocaat’s side’s blushes.

County urged men forward and the ball broke to Coyle to lash in a shot that needed to be blocked as Rangers threw men in the way and Klos stood firm.

The home fans were claiming a penalty again as Rangers struggled to clear their lines in the resulting melee but play went on.

Ferguson then tried to wrap things up but Walker was equal to his shot.

County almost equalised with a minute to go when Klos missed a punch and Scott Wilson had to hack Irvine’s header away before it crossed the line.
