Soccer: Celtic win Old Firm derby
Celtic ... 1
Rangers ... 0
There was joy around the green side of Glasgow as Celtic defeated rivals Rangers in this afternoon's Old Firm derby.
Martin O'Neill's side are now 11 points clear of Rangers at the top of the table and odds on to reclaim the Premier Division title.
The home team took the lead after just 18 minutes when leading scorer Henrik Larsson set up Alan Thompson for an easy finish.
Rangers chances of a recovery were made more difficult just before the break when they had Fernando Ricksen sent off for a second bookable offence.
The reigning champions battled hard in the second half but couldn't break down the Celtic defence.
Their second defeat in a week to the Bhoys leaves them with little chance of holding onto their title.
