David Beckham has signed a deal reportedly worth £1m to endorse Police sunglasses.

The star already has deals with adidas and Brylcreem which, when combined with his Manchester United wages, are reckoned to earn him over £3m a year.

Beckham said he agreed to this latest modelling deal because of his admiration for Italian style.

He said: "These sunglasses have got a lot of Italian style about them and I just really like them."

As part of the London launch, Beckham was interviewed by BBC presenter Ray Stubbs who asked him questions about football and his favourite fashions.

He said the flares favoured by former England boss Kevin Keegan during the 1970s were responsible for his early passion for fashion.

Wearing a pinstriped suit and white roll-neck jumper, the soccer star said there was not any one person who inspired some of his more wacky outfits.

He said: "If I see something I like I just wear it and don't care what other people think."
