The intrigue over Martin O’Neill’s contract extension deepened last night after the Ireland manager admitted he’s unsure whether a new deal will be brokered before the Euros.

Speaking on TV3 during his punditry duties for the Uefa Champions League semi-final, the saga which has raged since qualification for the finals was secured in November was touched upon by the Derryman.

O’Neill had indicated a successor to his current two-year contract which expires in the summer would be finalised in January. Now, it appears Roy Keane and himself could head to France in June without signing off on new terms.
