Franck Ribery wants to discuss return for France

Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery wants to meet France coach Didier Deschamps to discuss the possibility of a return to the national side in time for the European Championships.

Ribery retired from international football in August 2014 after missing out on the World Cup that year through injury but has now indicated he wants to add to his 81 caps for his country.

He spent 11 months on the sidelines because of a combination of ankle and muscle injuries before returning to the Bayern side earlier this year.

Having first been injured in March 2015 he returned from the ankle problem in December only to suffer another setback with a torn muscle which kept him out until February. But his form since then for Bayern has led to him considering coming out of international retirement to play a part for the Euro 2016 tournament hosts.

He said: “Before thinking about any possible return with the Blues, I would like to have a discussion with Didier Deschamps, but the only condition is that he also wants to talk so we can discuss the subject and see what is feasible.”

Ribery added: “I know I can still bring something (to the national team) and that it’s beautiful.”
