Sligo off mark but first win still elusive

A 54th-minute strike by Ruari Keating squared a game in which Sligo lost Phil Roberts on a straight red card in the 90th minute.

Martin stunned Galway with a well-taken goal after just 60 seconds of the first half, but Stephen Walsh, Gary Walsh, and Ruari Keating quickly laid siege to the Sligo goal.

Galway skipper Ryan Connolly had a chance for the visitors on 22 minutes but the ball was cleared under pressure.

Connolly went close again before Vinny Faherty missed an even better chance in front of goal.

Jaanai Gordon had half a chance for Rovers after 34 minutes but the danger was cleared under pressure.

Sligo swept into the attack from kick-off but the Tribesmen gradually played their way back into the game having recovered from the shock of having conceded such an early goal, and Keating grabbed the equaliser nine minutes into the second half.
