PBC do enough to hold off late rally from nine-man Douglas
Pres keeper Owen O’Sullivan had to be alert to deny Cal Sheehy early on following a deft Simon Foley flick on.
David Dalton was looking lively for Pres and sneaked in to grab the opener from Fergal O’Brien’s low cross.
Douglas looked to strike back early; a good low save by O’Sullivan denying Foley after a poorly defended cross. Whatever momentum gained was halted minutes later as Dalton combined with Douwie van Sinderen to slot his second under Gavan Barrett.
Douglas lost Eoin Byrne to a second yellow after the break but used that setback as a rallying call, with Cian Fitton on hand minutes later to finish a rebounded cross.
Fitton was given his marching orders moments later for a dangerous tackle but still Douglas drove forward in search of an equaliser, with Cal Sheehy’s late effort brilliantly tipped over by O’Sullivan to hand the cup to Pres.
