Luis Enrique still wary of Bayern

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has told his players they cannot relax ahead of the Champions League semi-final return leg in Munich next week despite their 3-0 first leg lead.

Enrique is wary of a Bayern team that hit back from a huge deficit against Porto to advance from the quarter-finals.

“In the last 15 minutes we won the game but not the tie,” Luis Enrique said. “In Munich we will not be speculating with the result.

“Getting into the Champions League final is a very big prize and I am sure that the team will take the second leg as responsibly as they should.

“We are going to try to win the return leg and make our fans happy. We need their support and it will be harder over there because they will have their fans.

“We don’t see ourselves in the final yet. I remember a team (AC Milan) that was winning a Champions League final 3-0 at half-time only to then lose (against Liverpool in 2005).”

Meanwhile Jerome Boateng felt Bayern Munich “threw the game away” at the Camp Nou.

Boateng was embarrassingly left on the floor when the outstanding Lionel Messi scored Barcelona’s second goal and the Germany defender soon became the subject of ridicule on social media. But Boateng insisted Bayern were comfortable until Dani Alves robbed Juan Bernat 13 minutes from time and set up Messi to unleash a left-footed drive past Manuel Neuer.

“We played well for 70 minutes,” Boateng said. “You didn’t have the feeling it might go wrong at the back, but then we made a mistake.

“Obviously I’m angry that we folded after that and threw the game away.

“We need team unity now. Our target must be to win in Munich.”

Germany striker Thomas Muller admits Bayern face an uphill task.

“We have to pull together as a team now. We’re FC Bayern and our heads stay up.

“We can’t expect the return to go the way it did against Porto, but the 11 out on the field will give it everything through to the end.”
