Shay Given breaks Damien Duff's unusual Premier League record
The Ireland goalkeeper made history on Saturday by becoming the first player to appear under 17 different managers in the Barclays Premier League, leaving Duffer and James Milner lagging behind on 16.
The stat was revealed on the official Premier League website.
In fact, five Ireland players make the PremierLeague.com list. Stephen Carr has played under 15 Premier League gaffers, while Richard Dunne and Andy O’Brien have served 14 big league masters. The endless travails of Newcastle United are the obvious link for all but Dunne.
These are the managers Given has played under during his 19-year stay in the Premier League:
Aston Villa: Tim Sherwood, Paul Lambert, Alex McLeish
Man City: Roberto Mancini, Mark Hughes
Newcastle United: Joe Kinnear, Chris Hughton, Kevin Keegan, Sam Allardyce, Nigel Pearson, Glenn Roeder, Graeme Souness, John Carver, Sir Bobby Robson, Ruud Gullit, Kenny Dalglish, Tony Parkes
