Gearóid Morrissey said he is still floating on air after making his debut from the bench for Cambridge United against Manchester United this week and revealed he would have started if it was not for a groin injury which has troubled him for almost three weeks.

The 23-year-old came on five minutes into the second half but Cambridge manager Richard Money had asked the former Cork City midfielder if he was fit enough to start the FA Cup fourth round replay.

But Morrissey was only named on the bench having trained just twice with the League Two side since signing for them in late December.
