Success for Stok and Glenn Whelan offered new deal
Stoke boss Mark Hughes has revealed negotiations remain ongoing with midfielder Glenn Whelan over a new contract.
The Republic of Ireland international was offered a deal last month but has yet to put pen to paper.
Hughes is hopeful that the issue can be settled quickly.
He said: “There’s a deal on the table with further talks scheduled, so hopefully something will be resolved quickly.”
Hughes was speaking after Bojan Krkic produced a brilliant finish for Stoke to end Leicester’s chances of climbing off the bottom of the Premier League for the first time in two months.
The former Barcelona striker spun and shot left-footed past Ben Hamer from 16 yards to earn Stoke a fourth away win.
Ireland’s Jonathan Walters was impressive in the build-up to the game’s only goal. No player has been involved in more Stoke goals than Walters this season with four goals and three assists.
