Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse, pictured, is facing a three-match ban after being charged with violent conduct by the Football Association for using his elbow on Everton’s Seamus Coleman.

The FA’s video review panel looked at the incident, which happened in Newcastle’s 3-2 win on Sunday, and decided it was worthy of a charge and three-game ban.

If he accepts the charge, Cisse would miss the home match against Burnley on New Year’s Day, the FA Cup third round trip to Leicester at the weekend, and then the visit to top-of-the-table Chelsea on January 10.
