Accusations against Roy ‘nonsense’

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has vehemently denied accusations that Roy Keane, pictured, created an explosive training ground feud with Gabriel Agbonlahor and clashed with Fabian Delph.

Lambert slammed accusations of Keane creating a ‘poisonous atmosphere’ at Villa and praised the former Manchester United midfielder before insisting his departure was due to the pressure of working for Ireland and Villa.

“There was absolutely no issues whatsoever and I have gone on record as saying it,” said Lambert. “I spoke to Roy this morning and had a chat and spoke to him last night and had a chat. The guy is run off his feet with Irish commitments and I respected that.”

The former Scotland international refused to say Villa have been targeted by mischief-makers. “I find it bizarre. The guy was great for me, he was great for everybody at the club. I have nothing but thanks for Roy for coming in, there weren’t even any bad words on anything. That is the disappointing thing. The headline of “Poisonous” is shocking. To label him like that is shocking.”
