I don’t have to explain selections, says Jose

Belgium international Thibaut Courtois, the 22-year-old who impressed on loan at Atletico Madrid last season, started the opening Premier League match at Burnley on Monday night, which the Blues won 3-1.

Mourinho, whose side face Leicester today, feels there will be plenty of opportunities for both men in the campaign ahead, when Chelsea are expected to challenge in all domestic and European competitions.

However, the Chelsea boss insists he does not have to go through each and every one of his tactical choices, which all players just have to accept for the greater good.

Asked if he had spoken to Cech about the situation, Mourinho replied: ā€œNo, because if I speak with him, tomorrow I have to speak with another one, and another one, and another one. I never did this in my career. I don’t think I have to be always speaking with players about decisions.

ā€œFor me, it is the club, the team and (then) the players.

ā€œThe club is not under my control. The team, yes. So I want the players to see that everything I do is thinking about the team.

ā€œI don’t like to be always justifying my decisions to the players.

ā€œWhat I always tell them is they all know where my office is. I know it’s a bit far for them, because it is the last office in the corridor, opposite to their dressing room, but they know where I am.

ā€œI always tell (them): if you need an explanation, I never close the door.

ā€œPetr didn’t come to me. He worked fantastically well, as always.ā€

He in the group, with his mates, very, very normal, polite, professional, and that is what we need.ā€

Mourinho hopes the Czech goalkeeper will remain to see out his contract at Stamford Bridge.

ā€œI hope he doesn’t want (to leave), and until this moment we don’t have any sign that can happen,ā€ he said.

For his part, Leicester manager Nigel Pearson has vowed not to ā€˜park the bus’ against Chelsea/

Last season’s Sky BetChampionship winners will look to build on an opening-day draw with Everton when they go to west London this weekend.

Pearson accepts any kind of result they can get will be a bonus and therefore hopes his side can play with a degree of freedom.

ā€œI’m looking forward to taking Leicester City to Chelsea in the league rather than the cup,ā€ said Pearson, whose side lost 5-2 in an FA Cup quarter-final in 2012.

ā€œChelsea at Stamford Bridge speaks for itself. Their record there is very good but we have to think of this as something of a bonus.

ā€œNot many people give us much hope but we have a strong resolve. If we can be an awkward customer I’ll be happy. But we have some good footballers.ā€
