Hallahan saves point for Cobh

The original fixture was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch back in March but the conditions were significantly better yesterday.

Longford went closest to breaking the deadlock in the opening half, with Sean Russell shooting straight at home goalkeeper Shane Hallahan before Gary Shaw sent a low effort inches wide.

David O’Sullivan, who had scored six goals in his three previous matches, saw an overhead kick touched on to the roof of the net by the in-form Hallahan, who also saved well from Stephen Rice and substitute Don Cowan.

In stoppage time Ramblers almost snatched a late winner as Brendáin Frahill just failed to connect with a cross.
