In the night’s other games, West Ham scored two late penalties at Burnley to reach the quarter-finals while Leicester substitute Lloyd Dyer scored an 89th-minute winner in a thrilling topsy-turvy tie to book a place in the quarter-finals at Fulham’s expense.

Fulham took the lead through Hugo Rodallega before Wes Morgan and Chris Wood gave Leicester a 2-1 lead.

Ignasi Miquel extended the lead with a header before Rodallega scored his second straight from the restart.

Giorgos Karagounis equalised for the Cottagers with just three minutes to go but there was still time for Lloyd Dyer to win it for the Foxes.

In the other game, Birmingham City and Stoke City played out a remarkable 4-4 draw, before the latter prevailed 4-2 on penalties.
