Black Cats starlet Egan vows to seize the day

Cork-born Sunderland defender John Egan has vowed to “never take a day for granted again” as he continues his recovery from a serious injury.

The promising Ireland U21 international sustained a badly broken leg during a loan spell with Bradford in November and ended up going under the knife. Defender Egan has been rehabilitating since and was delighted to sign a one-year contract extension last week.

“I’ve had a bit of a setback this year but I’m happy to get it all signed up now and I just have to concentrate on my rehab and getting back to full fitness,” he said.
