Liverpool earned victory at QPR despite being hit by a winter vomiting virus that laid low manager Brendan Rodgers and several of his playing staff on the morning of the game.

Rodgers felt so ill yesterday morning that he didn’t even travel to Loftus Road, leaving his assistants Colin Pascoe and Mike Marsh in charge.

In fact, Pascoe also showed symptoms of the illness and was banned by the club’s medical staff from entering the away dressing room at half-time in case he passed it to his players.
