Redknapp rules out loan move for Robbie

QPR manager Harry Redknapp has ruled out signing Robbie Keane in January.

The LA Galaxy striker was linked with a move to the Premier League strugglers during the MLS off-season, with Thierry Henry, Landon Donovan and Tim Cahill also targets for English clubs during the American season’s break. And Redknapp had admitted his interest in Keane, who enjoyed a similar spell at Aston Villa a year ago. But the former Spurs manager says he will only sign players who can remain at QPR for the rest of the season in the battle to avoid the drop.

That would rule out any move for Keane, who would have to return to Los Angeles in March to prepare for the new MLS season.

And Redknapp is instead expected to rekindle his interest in the likes of Newcastle forward Demba Ba rather than make an approach for Republic of Ireland’s record goalscorer, who he purchased for Tottenham in 2009 and sold in 2011.

“What do you do after the two months is up? hat’s the problem,” said Redknapp.
