Mick McCarthy says he doesn’t know anything about suggestions his Ipswich contract contains a clause allowing him to return to his old job as Ireland boss.

Reports claimed the two-and-a-half-year deal would allow him to leave Ipswich at the end of the season without the Championship club receiving a penny in compensation if the FAI wanted him back in the role he occupied between 1996 and 2002.

“I don’t discuss my contract, so where those stories have come from I don’t know,” said McCarthy.
