Super Celts boost TV ratings

RTÉ were celebrating Celtic’s stunning Champions League victory over Barcelona on Wednesday night.

The dramatic night at Parkhead proved an unexpected ratings winner for the broadcaster with thousands switching to coverage after Victor Wanyama’s first-half goal.

A RTÉ spokesperson explained: “Wednesday night’s coverage of the Champions League clash between Barcelona and Celtic on RTÉ Two peaked at 491,000 viewers with over a million viewers tuning in at some point during the coverage.”
