O’Shea: Fans were right to vent their anger

John O’Shea reckons it could have been even worse in the Aviva last Friday night — and he’s not just talking about the scoreline against Germany.

Asked about the fact that a large number of fans booed at the final whistle, the skipper for the night remarked: “I would say that they were exactly right to do it – I’m surprised the whole stadium did not do it when you lose 6-1.”

Speaking in Torshavn after the Ireland squad arrived in the Faroes, the Sunderland defender said he felt the team played into Germany’s hands in the second half.
