Soft Sligo goals annoy Derry boss
Ian Baraclough’s side are now eight points clear and on course for their first league title since 1977. They will hardly get easier goals in their remaining four matches.
Sligo scored in the 13th minute when Ryan McBride netted from a goalmouth scramble.
The home side went two ahead in the 35th minute when Cretaro took advantage of slack marking to slot the ball low into the net.
Cretaro struck again 11 minutes into the second half with a simple tap-in to put the game out of the visitors’ reach.
The best goal of the game arrived in the 69th minute .
A quick break put Ruaidhri Higgins in possession and his clever flighted ball was drilled past Rogers by the alert David Mcdaid.
But more sloppy defending by the visitors allowed Lee Lynch to score Sligo’s fourth in the 76th minute.
